The other feature it has that's really cool is - if you sidechain the composite of your non-vocal music tracks, it will monitor the volume of the music and raise or lower the volume of the vocals to match the increase or decrease in volume of the music. You have to be mindful of long trails, though. It can do a good job of leveling a track to target a volume, without using compression. It's really cool, but not a plugin I use all the time. There's no guarantee that Wave Rider will be updated forever. They're generally bug free at launch, and an old one like Vocal Rider has already been through years and years of testing.Īnd again, the problem for Mac users is the significantly changing OS. (And Wave Rider also requires iLok.)Īnd that's what I mean when I say I don't understand about the hate for Waves. But it's $99 so again, that's more than 3 times the price of Vocal Rider. It doesn't really need any updates, you could buy it and use it forever (unless you're a Mac user, where the major OS change requires you to use updated plugins.)īut since you ask, I'll mention the product which I believe inspired Vocal Rider. Vocal Rider is really cool, and as far as being charged for an update - that product is done.
